When we were naming our church, the first word was by far the most important, REDEEMED.
It describes who were are, what we are, and why we are even a church. Even though it is a common Biblical term, it isn’t a word that is used every day. So what does it mean?
Here are a few definitions from the dictionary:
- to buy back
- to recover
- to deliver
- to obtain release or restoration
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.
– Ephesians 1:7
But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption.
– 1 Corinthians 1:30
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
– Mark 10:45
